2) Sadly, there are sketchy owners, renters &/or visitors who are nothing short of 'trailer trash' criminals... thieves who will steal anything of value left unlocked or not tied down. Known felons and pedophiles have been allowed to rent and/or buy lots here in the past and are currently residing here. I hope the Association makes owners do background checks before renting or selling in the future, for everyone's safety!
do for vacation but we had a blast, planning another trip next year.
My family & I really enjoyed our stay at the resort very different from wat we usually
Very charming wilderness setting, nice pool and rec-hall lots of activities for any age. Live band on fri. night at the front of park, some of the folks do dance a bit different, but great fire and good beer.
Aside from the negatives, this Park has its pluses... being in the forest, far from city congestion, 30 miles in either direction to Ocala or Palatka, kayaking the lake and/or nearby Springs and rivers, wading this lake or swimming at the pool, community campfires, where anyone can stop by and share in the fireside chats. And if you appreciate those who elect to serve our country, as I do... JaxNAS F35s and Warthogs routinely fly overhead, practicing maneuvers and bombing some field 12 miles from here... quite the show!
Located in the Ocala National Park, this COA fronts a sand/grass/weed beach at Little Lake Kerr, and has an exercise pool for laps and water aerobics, family pool (closed for the winter) and waaaay over-chlorinated hot tub (due to drunk, 'high' from meds or drugs, and/or just plain, sweaty people jumping in without taking showers first), tennis/pickleball courts, volleyball court, big dog park with obstacle course, pier, wide boat launch, fairly full boat storage area, free WiFi, pool tables & resident activities at the Lodge, plus a friendly Maintenance staff.
1) Little Lake Kerr will soon become Kerr Pond, without significant rain to replenish the lake. Realtors and lot owners want you to believe it's just cyclical (to keep the lot prices artificially higher than they should be), but aside from the lake being almost SIX FEET lower in the last 4 months - two of which are suppose to be rain months - Little Lake Kerr is shrinking! According to Fish & Game and people who have lived around here for a few decades, the lake is approximately 15 feet LOWER than it's 2007 mark.
Two Huge Drawbacks
A variety of Salt Springs businesses line the SR-19 frontage property... Little Gift Shop, Laundromat, USPS, Mary Weeks Realty (she seems to have the greater share of sites for sale in the park), Square Meal (don't waste your time or money; mediocre fare at best), Salty's (music loud enough to make you deaf, every weekend, plus Karaoke for the adventurous), a fishing/hunting store with folks who love America (yay!!), Hair Solutions (hair & nail salon with a masseuse... Thank God!), and even a Dollar General, as you round the Left turn, that will take you to Ft. McCoy. And two Flea Markets happen every Saturday morning... one 'on the greens' adjacent to the parking lot, and the other toward Ocala on SR-19, adjacent to Bass Champions (definitely go there their evening, 'All You Can Eat' Specials)!
Lots for rent & sale. If buying, 'due diligence' required. And if you dislike humidity and a ton of mosquitos and other insects, avoid the 'off season' (May-October).
Ended up at this park after forced out of the KOA 20 miles away due to forest fire and loss of power to the park. Nice resort would go back however it's a little tight for a large RV my fifth wheel is 40 foot some of those streets and sites are very tight. But had a good time.
Great place to come if you love to party! Live band at the front of the resort every Saturday (Friday night is karaoke if you are brave), and most weekends you can find some form of live music and plenty of games at someone's campsite as well. There are two pools, a clubhouse with pool and ping-pong tables, volleyball, basketball and tennis courts, and both a kid and dog park for human and fur babies alike. Don't be shy! Walk up and introduce yourself and join us to have a great time. A lot of us long term owners and renters love to see new faces! There is always good food and entertainment, and with the lake, springs, and trails being only steps away there is never a dull moment. Only draw back is some mentally unstable people living here full time and working for the park that pride themselves on harassing the fun-lovers (calling the police when nothing is wrong, assaulting young girls, leaving bags of dog poop on people's doorsteps with threatening letters, discriminating against visitors). Please be aware that if you are a "younger" visitor you may be made to feel uncomfortable by certain staff. They may even initially try to turn you away (we have seen this happening a lot lately) but please pay the rude staff that treats you this way no mind! They live in the park and would prefer to see this place turned into a quiet retirement community (the 55+ community is about a half mile down the road past this resort if that is what you are looking for!). Come have a great time here with us in Salt Springs! All you need to bring is your bathing suit and some good vibes 8) !
